Story of How I Filmed This Video
(Directed and filmed by Yasunari Murayama)
I was capturing footage in downtown Mexicali with my camera and Ronin, passing by the Cine Curto, when out of nowhere a young guy and his friend approached me:
— “Hey! Do you shoot professional videos?”
I looked at him — at his eyes, his posture, his energy.
He was fired up — full of frustration and emotion.
He told me he was a rapper. Holding a speaker in his hand, he said he had come all the way from Sonora, hoping for a chance to perform.
But they wouldn’t even let him speak.
He was treated like he didn’t matter.
They even asked him for money just to listen — and that was all he had for food and transportation.
I could feel his frustration.
Everything about him screamed rage, pain, and broken dignity.
Then he looked at me and asked:
— “Could you record a video of me right now?”
As a producer and storyteller, I’ve seen moments like these before — but this one hit different.
At that moment, it wasn’t about whether I wanted to or whether I could.
I just knew — I had to.
So I said: “Yeah, let’s do it. Right now.”
No expectations. No payment. Just presence.
Two takes. No plan. No production.
Just the June sun in Mexicali, the burning pavement, his voice — and the need to be heard.
🎤 His name is Ángel Nogales, a freestyle rapper from Sonora.
Now in Mexicali, chasing his dream.
This isn’t just a video.
It’s a moment.
A shout from the soul.
A record of what still burns inside when the world shuts you out.
🔥 Anger. Passion. Art.
That’s what this track is made of.
